VPNName / Guides
Import a Subscription and Connect
Start with a username-based account, then choose a plan, import your subscription, and verify the connection. Follow the main setup steps first, then adjust your route as needed.
Account Setup
Create an Account with a Username
VPNName requires no email address. Create an account with a username and password. Select “Try It Free” below to open the user panel, enter the username and password you want to use, and follow the prompts to finish setting up your account. Your username identifies your account and is used to log in. Choose a combination that's easy to remember but doesn't reveal your identity.
Before submitting, check your keyboard layout, letter case, and any accidental spaces. Use a unique password and store it in a trusted password manager. Since account creation doesn't require an email address, don't rely on your inbox to store your login details or assume you can reset a forgotten password by email. If you have trouble logging in, use the recovery options actually shown in the panel.
After creating your account, make sure you've reached the user panel rather than remaining on the login form. If the page asks you to log in again, use the username and password you saved. Once your account is ready, choose a plan. Account creation and plan activation are separate steps, so confirm that your plan is active before connecting; being able to log in alone isn't enough.
Billing Options
Choose a Plan and Complete Your Order
Open the plans section in the panel and distinguish between monthly subscriptions and data packages before choosing an allowance. Monthly subscriptions suit ongoing use: ¥9.9/month for 60GB, ¥18/month for 250GB, or ¥28/month for 500GB. Data resets monthly on your activation date, not on the first day of each calendar month. If you upgrade mid-cycle, the price difference is prorated for the remaining days. Review the amount shown in the panel before proceeding.
Data packages suit less frequent or variable use when you want to budget based on cumulative usage: ¥158/300GB, ¥358/1000GB, or ¥658/3000GB. They last until the data is used and never expire. A data package doesn't add data each month, and monthly subscription data isn't carried over indefinitely. If you're unsure, review the billing details on the pricing page before choosing in the panel.
Once you've confirmed the plan name, price, and data allowance, create an order and pay as prompted in the panel. Alipay, WeChat Pay, and USDT are supported; follow the checkout page instructions. After paying, return to the panel and check the order result and current plan status. If the status hasn't updated, check the original order rather than placing another one. VPNName offers a 7-day no-questions-asked refund policy; see the refund policy for details.
Continue to the subscription step once your current plan appears in the panel. Unlimited devices means there's no limit on the number of devices connected at the same time; data usage is still subject to your plan. If you use the same account on multiple devices, keep an eye on the data usage shown in the panel.
Subscription Delivery
Get Your Subscription in the Panel
Open the account overview in the user panel and find the subscription section. Your subscription link provides the client with the route configuration available to your account. It's not a client download link or your login password. Use the panel's copy-subscription or import option; it's generally more reliable than looking for an old link in chat history.
If the panel offers a quick-import option for your client, install the client first, then return to the panel and select import. Your browser may ask whether to open the client. Check that the app name matches the client you installed before continuing. If the client doesn't open, copy the subscription link and add it manually as described in the next section rather than repeatedly clicking the same option.
For manual import, copy the entire link without changing its parameters or including line breaks or explanatory text. Once added, the client reads the configuration and should display a list of routes. If the list is empty, first check your plan status in the panel and make sure the link is complete, then check for a client update prompt. The login page URL can't be used as a subscription link.
Treat your subscription link like account credentials and only add it to a client you trust. Don't share the full link when troubleshooting, and hide it before sending screenshots. This guide doesn't include a working subscription link; the actual link is available only in the user panel after you log in.
Platform Setup
Import into a Client on Each Platform
Open the client section in the user panel and get the client for your device's operating system. Clients for Windows, macOS, Android, and Linux are available after you log in. The iOS access option requires an active, unexpired plan. Follow the installation instructions and use the import options currently shown in the panel. Don't download installers from unknown sources just to match a feature name in this guide.
The steps below explain how to get started on each platform. A client may call the subscription option “configuration,” “subscription management,” or “import from link.” In each case, you're adding a configuration source provided by the panel. After adding it, make sure the routes have loaded before connecting. Saving a name alone doesn't mean the subscription has been imported successfully.
Windows: Find the Desktop Client's Configuration Options
In the panel, choose the VPNName desktop client for Windows, install it, and open the main window. Use the panel's quick-import option if available. To add it manually, open configuration or subscription management, choose an option such as “Add remote subscription” or “Import from link,” paste the link you copied, and save it with a name you'll recognize.
After saving, update or refresh the configuration. Once the route names appear, select the configuration and open the routes page. If the system asks for network access, check the app's source and follow the prompt. For your first session, keep the client's default routing mode; there's no need to change advanced options such as proxy ports or routing rules. If you already use another network proxy on your computer, pause it before testing so you can tell which client is handling your traffic.
macOS: Import the Configuration and Allow Network Access
Get the VPNName client for macOS from the panel, follow the installation instructions, and place it in your Applications folder. If macOS asks you to confirm network configuration or grant permissions, check the client name and follow the prompts in System Settings. Don't dismiss a pending permission prompt just because the main window has opened.
Return to the panel and use quick import, or add the remote link from the client's configuration or subscription page. After saving and updating, make sure the new configuration is selected, then choose a route and connect. Some clients put the connection toggle in the menu bar; closing the window doesn't necessarily disconnect you. Check the connection toggle and actual access results to verify. For more on permissions, see the help center. There's no need to keep changing system settings during the initial import.
Android: Manage Subscriptions and Allow VPN Access
Log in to the panel, get the VPNName mobile client for Android, and install it. Open the subscription or configuration page, add your subscription using the link option, then save and update. If you use the panel's quick import, check that the configuration appears in the client after it opens. Then choose the configuration and a route, and tap connect.
The first time you connect on Android, the system usually asks you to authorize the VPN connection. Confirm that the request is from the client you just installed, then allow it. Check the connection status in the app, then switch to your browser to test access. If the connection often drops when the app moves to the background, check its background activity settings in battery management. Settings vary by device; follow the system prompts and avoid changing permissions unrelated to the client.
iOS: Panel Access and Subscription Import
Open the client section of the user panel on your iPhone or iPad. Once your account has an active, unexpired plan, use the iOS access option provided by the panel to get the client. If no option is available yet, check that you're signed in to the right account and confirm your plan status. Don't substitute files for another platform or import unfamiliar device management profiles from unofficial sources.
After installation, return to the panel and use the import option for your client if available. To do it manually, look for a subscription, configuration, or add-link option in the client. Once the subscription has imported and updated, choose a route and turn on the connection. If the system asks to add a VPN configuration, check the app name and authorize it, then return to the client to confirm the status. Seeing the app icon on your home screen only confirms installation; you still need to import the subscription and authorize the connection.
Linux: Follow the Panel Instructions
Linux is supported too. Log in to the panel, get the appropriate client, and follow the panel instructions to install it. Then add your link from the subscription or configuration section. Permission prompts and startup steps vary by desktop environment; follow the current panel instructions. This guide doesn't cover system package management or service configuration.
Connection Check
Connect to a Route and Verify It Works
Choose an exit route for the region of the service you want to use, connect, and wait for the client status to update. Keep the default routing settings and open a website you need in your browser. A lit connection toggle alone isn't enough: check separately that the client is connected, your traffic is using the expected exit, and the target website is accessible.
Open VPNName's network check page to see your browser's current exit information. With smart routing enabled, different websites may follow different routes, so the exit shown by the check page may not represent every app. Consider the results alongside access to your target website; a region that differs from what you expected doesn't necessarily mean the entire connection has failed.
If regular websites load but a target service doesn't work, first check whether it supports the selected region and whether your account meets its requirements. AI tools and streaming services may also check your region and account, so a successful connection doesn't guarantee that a third-party service will be available. Switching to a route for the target region and reopening the page can help distinguish an exit selection issue from an account permissions issue.
If no websites load after connecting, disconnect the client and check whether your local network works normally. Once it does, reconnect and try another route. Change one setting at a time and check the result before making another change. Don't replace the subscription, change routing rules, and reinstall the app all at once, or it'll be difficult to tell what fixed the issue.
If you need help, note your device's operating system, client name, selected route, and exact error message. Explain whether you can't import the subscription, can't connect, or can't access a particular site after connecting. Hide your subscription link and sensitive account details in screenshots. For general questions, check the help center. To compare IEPL dedicated lines, relayed routes, direct connections, and billing options, see the buying guide. This guide ends once you've verified the connection.
